Morrissey SAYS REPORT HIGHLIGHTS
NEED FOR A NEW GENERATION OF
LEADERSHIP AT CITY HALL, RENEWS CALL
FOR CITY HALL ETHICS CODE
Mayoral candidate Matt Morrissey
today responded to today’s
Standard-Times report on Mayor
Kalisz’s campaign spending by making
the case for a “new generation of
leadership at City Hall" that can
restore energy and integrity to City
Hall.
“The Standard-Times has uncovered a
clear pattern of questionable
campaign spending by the Kalisz
campaign that diminishes the
community’s trust in government,’’
Morrissey said. “We need a new
generation of leadership in City
Hall, one that is no longer
controlled by lawyers and political
wiseguys, but is open to the ideas
and aspirations of every citizen. We
need a new generation at City Hall
that does not have any back rooms,
and has the energy and will to work
24-7 to create jobs, security, and
educational opportunity in every
neighborhood.”
Morrissey repeated his promise to
establish a code of ethics for his
administration that will discourage
backroom deal-making among the
lawyers and political wiseguys and
eliminate the influence of campaign
contribution on city policy.
Morrissey first proposed the code of
ethics several weeks ago in his
comprehensive plan to improve city
services.
“We need to restore the people’s
trust in government,” Morrissey
said. “People need to know that City
Hall works for them, not the
politically connected lawyers and
powerful campaign contributors."
